My Sozo Story
What I love about yoga is that it gives you amazing physical benefits, strength, and flexibility. But for me, I was always very apprehensive about the roots of yoga and not trusting every environment that I went into. I was kind of on guard, because I think you'd be naive to discount the spiritual roots of yoga. I wanted to use it for everything that it's worth, and I received a ton of benefits from it, but I was a little scared of it, if I'm honest.
But what I found in SŌZŌ is a place that I can trust. The instructors are knowledgeable and experts in their field and they're also not going to lead me down a path that I don't want to go down. For someone who wants to try out yoga for the very first time, I would invite them to try Sozo because the instructors here are so great at adapting every class to any level. I feel comfortable bringing family members when they're here visiting and they've never tried yoga or may even have a negative opinion of yoga.
If you're new, the instructors are so patient and they are such great leaders of the class where they give you prompts that really help you with your alignment. They give you time to catch up or take a break whenever you need it.
I specifically love Power Flow. That's my jam. I love it because it's constant movement, whereas Hot 26 is the same movements each time. So if you’re someone new, that might be an easier class because it's not as fast-paced. But there's also so many good slower classes like Yin Yoga, where you're literally holding stretches for 3 minutes at a time and getting your body deep into flexibility. There’s many different kinds of classes that a new beginner can try out and SŌZŌ is the place to be if you're a new beginner.
